Stafford Springs, CT – The Winston Modified Tour thundered their way into Stafford Motor Speedway last night for the Spring Sizzler 100. Fans were in shock when they did not see the #50 modified of Chad Barcomb who had fallen ill before the race. Jim Windrow would put up fast time in practice, qualifying and in happy hour. Bobby Ambroceo would start 2nd. The race got off to a rocky start with 5 caution flags in the first 20 laps. Then the last 80 laps would be caution free. On the final restart on lap 20, Danny Savary would get by Jim Windrow. Windrow and Savary broke away from the field but with about 50 laps to go Windrow would slow down the front stretch and make his way to the pits with an ignition problem. Finally after getting the ignition box switched over to the other one he was back on the track but 2 laps down. Savary would enjoy a comfortable lead until Dave Melson make a late race charge. Melson would get by Savary until two laps to go. Melson would wobble in turn 3 and Savary was unsuspecting of the slow down and got into the back of Melson. This sent Dave through the grass in turn 4. The caution would not come out and Savary would take the white flag. With no one in sight Savary would nail down his second win of the season. Dave Melson would recover to finish 2nd. Bobby Ambroceo, Rich Warden and Fred Hill would wind out the top 5.
