Hampton, VA – Sunday night the Winston Modified Tour thundered their way into Langley Speedway for the 8th race of the season. Last week saw Danny Savary take down the win at Waterford Speedbowl. When the haulers rolled in to Langley, Savary was missing from the lineup. Due to hauler troubles the #21 was stuck in Massachusetts, only to be able to follow along with the race online. Eleven modifieds would make their way to the track and all would be surprised when the #37 of Matt Smith rolled out. The Canadian driver has been in extended hibernation this season. He would come out of the box fast and would sit on the pole after qualifying. The race would be slowed 7 times for 30 laps. The final restart would come with 22 laps to go. Brian Schilling would roll off on the inside with Jim Windrow on the outside. Schilling would spin his tires and Windrow would pass him on the outside and never look back. Dave Melson would lead a race high 38 laps. Windrow was able to pick up his 2nd win of the season and take over the points lead by 6 points over Barcomb. Todd Taylor would finish second with Brian Schilling, Bill Kring and Chad Barcomb rounding out the Top 5. The Winston Modified Tour will be off this weekend and will be back in action on July 8th at Lanier Speedway! We hope to see you then!
