Week 2 And The TNT Whelen Modified Series Stays In Virginia

Last week’s drama unfolded at the 1/2 mile paperclip Martinsville Speedway for the Series Season Opener for 100 lap event. Sixteen drivers signed into the pits and eventually take qualifying times. Two Vermont drivers would battle for the top spot with the #12 of Jim Windrow beating the #50 of Chad Barcomb with a time of 19.879 sec. The race had 16 lead changes among 5 drivers. Dave Melson in the #13 would lead 31 laps and hold on to win the race with .18 sec to spare over Chad Barcomb. Jim Windrow would finish in the 3rd spot.

This week the series heads north to Richmond for another stay in Virginia before heading to the Icebreaker in 2 weeks. The Modifieds will visit the 3/4 mile tri-oval Richmond International Raceway. Pits will open at 8:30 PM EDT with qualifying scheduled to go off after 9 PM EDT.
