Last week’s drama at the 3/4 mile infield oval in the Pocono Speedway at Long Pond, PA had seventeen drivers who made qualifying runs. Todd Taylor in the 4 would set fast time with a 24.110 sec run. Chad Barcomb in the 50 would start on the outside of row one. Taylor appeared to dominate the early stages of the race leading 38 laps before succumbing to team issues forcing him to give up the lead. While he managed to come back through the field, The race was slowed 5 times for the yellow and there were 6 lead changes among 5 drivers. Chad Barcomb would pilot the 50 to lead 5 laps and would go on to gain his 4th season win, tying him with Jim Windrow in the 12. Rich Warden led one lap and came on to finish second after starting 7th on the grid. Taylor would climb back to a 3rd place finish.
This week’s drama the Series head to the 1/2 mile Stafford Motor Speedway for a 100 lap night race. Series and Invader drivers will take to the track for their practice session at 8:30 PM EDT Qualifying is t to go off approximately 9 PM EDT. Jim Windrow holds the points lead over Chad Barcomb, Dave Melson and Fred Hill.
