Thompson, CT – On Sunday August 19th, STR SimRacing’s Winston Modified Tour kicked off their 10th season at Thompson Speedway. Ricky LaDuke would show his speed right out of the box by being the quickest in practice and carry it over to qualifying. LaDuke would score his first pole of the season with a 20.836 second lap around the 5/8th mile high bank track. Windrow would start second and Savary would start third. The race got off to a quick start with Windrow taking the lead on lap one. Windrow would set the pace for the first 22 laps only to be passed by defending champion Chad Barcomb who would lead 18 laps. Dave Melson would lead 13 laps and Ricky LaDuke would lead 19. Rich Warden and Fred Hill would both lead 1 lap. Danny Savary would lead a race high and the final 26 laps while fending off a late race challenge from Ricky LaDuke. There were 21 lead changes between 7 different drivers. The race would be slowed 8 times for 36 laps out of 100. Savary would be the man to celebrate in victory lane, LaDuke would finish 2nd while Jim Windrow, Dave Melson and Chad Barcomb would round out the Top 5.
