Waterford, CT – This past Sunday night, the Winston Modified Tour thundered their way into the New London-Waterford Speedbowl for their seventh race of the season. Series points leader Chad Barcomb would have his work cut out for him after struggling in practice. Canadian Dave Melson would start the race on the pole after winning practice as well. Melson would lead 20 of the 100 laps but would find himself on the short end of the stick on the green white checker finish. Melson would get roughed up and ultimately finish 11th. Danny Savary would be in the right place at the right time at the end of the race, comfortably running in 3rd with 10 laps to go, he would watch Michigan native Bill Kring and the Legendary Jim Windrow battle side by side for the lead. Kring would slip up the track and Windrow would try the cross over in the middle of turn 3 and 4 but Savary was already there to fill the hole. Windrow moved up the track and when doing so, would get into the back of Kring. Kring showed some muscle during the event leading a total of 20 laps which would be a season high during a race, after the dust up, Kring would pilot the #32 to a 5th place finish. Savary was able to hold on during the Green, White, Checker in route to his 3rd win of the season, while leading the most laps on the night with 36. The points are at a dead lock in the top 4 positions. Chad Barcomb and Danny Savary are tied on top followed by Jim Windrow 2 points back and Fred Hill 4 points back. Bill Kring rounds out the Top 5 trailing the leaders by 10 points. The Winston Modified Tour will be in action this coming Sunday night as they head to Langley Speedway for the Winn-Dixie 100! We hope to see you then!
