Thompson, CT – Wednesday night the Winston Modified Tour thundered their way into Thompson Speedway for the first event in series history. The season kicked off with an unexpected rain delay which pushed the start time of the race back a half hour. Drivers were told to get to their cars as the track was finally ready for the race! Larry Yeager would set fast time by drawing the No. 1 chip out of the basket due to qualifying being rained out. Danny Savary would sit on the outside pole in his George and Ken’s Collision modified. This is all that Savary would need. Savary would jump out to the lead and never look back. While leading a race high 80 laps Savary gained the extra bonus point. Fellow Walpole, MA native Bobby Ambroceo would finish in 2nd place followed by the #13 of Dave Melson. The biggest loss of the rain would be the #50 of Chad Barcomb. Barcomb was in 3rd late in the race and would end up backing his car into the wall between turns 1 and 2 to go on to a 9th place finish. The Winston Modified Tour will be back in action next Wednesday night January 27th at Monadnock Speedway for a 150 lap feature event!
